What is mock trial?
• Mock Trial is a competitive pre-law team and student organization here at SJSU that incorporates law, speech, debate, and theatre in a courtroom atmosphere.
Do I need any mock trial experience to be able to join the team?
• Not at all! We had many first year members make up our team this year. One of them actually won a best witness award at our regionals competition as well!
Is this club only for pre-law majors?
• Not at all! We have competitors ranging from Climate Science to Psychology majors in our club. Many join to improve their public speaking and critical thinking skills. Some even join just for the fun of it!
Do you guys welcome transfer students?
• Of course! Our club is open to any transfer or undergraduate student of any year!
How do auditions work for the team?
• Auditions will be taking place during the first few weeks of the fall semester and you will be given case material to prepare. You can audition as an attorney/witness or even both.
How many teams does the club have?
• As of now we have two competitive teams. our blue and gold team. we also have our Spartan team where members don’t compete, but they develop and polish their skills.
How is one placed on a team? Is the audition process competitive?
• Based on how you do on your audition, you will be placed on either a competitive or developmental team.
• The audition process can be competitive as we have, and receive many talented competitors. So it is best to prepare your audition the best you can.

• There are general meetings once a week, and you also meet at least once a week on a separate basis with your respective team.
